Sr Social Media Specialist
JOB PURPOSE
Contributes to US social media strategy, objectives, and plans and
leads the execution and tactics. Defines the brand social channels to drive
both customer and Independent Sales Force engagement – fitting the strategy,
tone, voice and the stories that are uniquely Mary Kay. Works with internal
teams to align efforts and messaging; establish priorities and objectives for
campaigns based on Company objectives.
Partners with Marketing,
Creative, IST, and external agencies to ensure Mary Kay social activities and
social platforms are technically and content-optimized to increase engagement,
build brand awareness and create advocacy. Provides organization with timely
and consistent best practices and insights to support in the ever-evolving
social media landscape. Leverages social media channel mix and resources/tools and
content; assesses technical capabilities, provides recommendations and ensures
local deployment. Delivers social analytics to evaluate social channels.
Ensures
Independent Sales Force members receive engaging and timely content to promote
their Mary Kay business on social channels. Manages effective social platforms
and education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.
Project manages all aspects of Mary Kay US social plans
including concept, execution,
technology and vendor assessments, tool and system selection, development, and
deployment.

Manages content
for the brand channels including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and
YouTube.

Influences
departments and roles on the optimal use of social media channels, services and
tools across the organization.

Creates programs
and training guidance for Independent Sales Force members to leverage social
media in building and expanding relationships with potential and new customers.

Leverages PR
mentions and partnerships with influencers.

Coordinates
content strategy with MK news and Mary Kay blog.

Partners with Marketing,
Corporate Digital, Creative, and various department stakeholders to ensure the
US social media strategy is successful.
2.
Project manages Company-approved
social content and tools for the Independent Sales Force.

Provides
Independent Sales Force Members with posts to use in their social channels.

Manages social
media channels for the Independent Sales Force members to download and publish
social media content.

Creates education
content and events for the Independent Sales Force Members.

Promotes social
media content and education at Corporate events.

Uses analytics and data-driven insights to ensure objectives are met and identify new
opportunities and recommendations to optimize and grow social media presence
and capabilities.

Delivers meaningful
performance metrics and reports to measure social program effectiveness.

Monitors
competitors.
4.
Provides social media expertise to the
organization.

Briefs Manager, senior management, and
stakeholders on the performance of the US social channels.

Actively follows industry experts in social
media; and continually stays abreast of best practices in social platforms. Explores new technology trends, solutions and innovation
recommending new opportunities.

Demonstrates social and digital expertise to
internal stakeholders and senior management serving as the subject matter
expert and champion for content best practices, social resources and tools, and
industry trends.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education
|
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in Business, Communications,
Marketing, Online and/or Social Media Marketing or related field, plus |
Experience |
5+ years of cumulative work experience in a social media, marketing/advertising/public
relations/digital marketing role. Agency, cosmetics and direct selling
industry experience highly preferred. |
1.
Must have integrated marketing experience with demonstrated
in depth knowledge and experience with social media planning, channels, and
engagement.
2.
Displays in-depth knowledge and understanding of
existing and emerging social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter,
YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.), their respective participants, and how
each platform can be deployed and cross-leveraged in different scenarios.
3.
Translates complex data into smartly
contextualized conclusions and reports. Ability to advise stakeholders on
making data-driven decisions.
4.
Critical to this position’s success is the
ability to manage multiple routine projects with attention to detail. Expected
to deal with ambiguity and rapidly changing priorities.
5.
Must be self-sufficient, able to prioritize and
organize.
6.
Must have strong interpersonal, diplomacy and communication
skills to effectively communicate, collaborate, and provide direction to
internal staff, executives and IBCs. Must have good presentation skills and be
comfortable presenting in front of large audiences.
7.
Must be able to collaborate with external
Agencies, vendors, internal Creative partners and cross functional teams.
8.
Must be able to help develop brand experiences
from a consumer and Independent Sales Force point of view. This requires an
understanding of the Mary Kay Product line and Independent Beauty Consultants
to be acquired.
