Process Mechanic
JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for setting up, monitoring, operating, troubleshooting, and performing repairs on all processing production systems and sub-systems, Clean-in-Place (CIP) systems, tank farm and waste water treatment system. Repair, troubleshoot and perform inspection on tanks, pumps, blenders, mills, mechanical drives, and gear reducers. Assists other Process Mechanics and electricians in repairing and performing routine and preventative maintenance tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Performs routine and specific maintenance repairs on processing equipment, including replacing bearings, O-rings, and seals in motors and mechanical drives, tightening and replacing belts and chains in mechanical drives, checking and replacing gear oil and greasing bearings, replacing air and water filters. Inspect and repair air and water line hoses. Completes ongoing training to improve skills and stays current in the trade.
2. Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on all processing equipment including tanks, pumps, mills, CIP system, and blenders exercising caution not to contaminate batches. Has first responsibility for repair and PM work on assigned lines of ownership. Performs yearly PM reviews and updates. Logs all performed work in Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) in accordance to department work instruction.
3. Sets up, Operate, monitor, troubleshoot and repair (CIP) system, tank farm and waste water system. Completes all associated documentation in processing, waste water and packaging for GMP compliance of equipment.
4. Assists senior level Process Mechanics and electricians in the assembly, disassembly and troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical drives.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience Trade school courses or maintenance shop training is required in order to possess mechanical skills needed to maintain and repair processing equipment. Ability to perform repair and maintenance task on motors and mechanical drives, pumps, mills, and blenders; and ability to assemble and disassemble gear and mechanical drives typically acquired through 2 years of experience as a Mechanic's Helper.
1. Must have technical knowledge and mechanical aptitude to properly use hand and power tools.
2. Must understand and use basic maintenance manuals; possess basic knowledge of electric wiring and drawings;
3. Must be able to frequently stand, walk, stoop, crouch, kneel, climb, push, pull, reach, and move equipment and machinery weighing up to 60 lbs. in order to repair, monitor, and maintain processing equipment.
4. Must have the manual dexterity to manipulate and assemble small objects and pieces of machinery and maintain and repair equipment.
5. Vision and hearing required in order to inspect equipment.
6. Shift or schedule change may be necessary due to changing business needs.
