JOB PURPOSE:   
Performs major electro-mechanical repairs, overhauls, and maintenance of computer automated and material handling equipment at the ASRS building.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:     
1. Performs major mechanical repair, replacement, and overhaul duties to ensure the safe and proper functioning of all automated and some conventional material handling equipment.  Troubleshoots mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems and makes necessary repairs, replacements, or rebuilds as necessary.

2. Performs preventative and routine maintenance, adjustments, and necessary modifications to the automated and conventional material handling equipment. Performs periodic wheel alignments,  mechanical inspections and adjustments of shuttle, vertical rail clearances and wire rope mechanisms for the SRVs. Performs complete preventative maintenance on SRVs and AGV.

3. Retrieves or restacks dumped loads in high bay racks. Recovers errant automated guided vehicles and changes their batteries. 

4. Provides technical investigation and resolves the more complex equipment malfunctions with the automated vehicles and other plant equipment.  Troubleshoots electrical and control problems and performs repairs down to the subassembly or circuit board replacement with all material handling and some plant equipment.

5. Reviews existing mechanical/electrical equipment and provides upgrades or improvements to existing designs with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) engineering, vendor specialists, or in-house resources.

6. Maintains spare parts inventory levels, orders parts and supplies, and arranges deliveries.  Assists with parts sourcing vendors, new supply channels, and some selected mechanical projects. Inputs parts costing in electronic databases.

7. Prepares and maintains logs, checklists, and other required maintenance records.  Performs good manufacturing practices on conveyors, pallet inverters, wrappers, high bay floors and racking, shelving/cabinets, fixtures, P&D stands, and all shop areas.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:    
Education: High school diploma minimum.  Trade School or Associates degree is preferred

Experience: 8 years experience with industrial maintenance and shop practices; must have 4 years experience in troubleshooting and repairing material handling equipment.

1. Must demonstrate competencies with power and hand tools, multi-meters, dial calibers, micrometers, and other test equipment to perform essential job duties.

2. Must be able to successfully and safety operate overhead hoists, slings, chain and pulley rigging, and proper hooks and links technology.

3. Must be able to manually lift materials and parts weighing up to 60 pounds.

4. Must have good interpersonal and communication skills in order to follow instructions and effectively interface with Maintenance and Warehouse personnel and other Company Departments.

5. Must have good color vision and perception in order to verify wires, control symbols, and operate machinery.

6. Ability to walk 70% of the time to coordinate manpower and equipment requirements.  Must be able to reach, stoop, kneel, and sit 30% of the time to perform related maintenance work.

7. Must be able to work at high elevations and climb storage racks or equipment ladders as needed.

8. Must have moderately advanced competencies with oxy-acetylene torches and metal rod arc welding for minor repairs.

9. Must be able to do basic computer interfacing, keyboard input, e-mail accounts, computer based database research and maintenance, and be proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word applications
